The Talon Close Quarters Impact Weapon was originally designed as a ground fighting tool. However through training and experimentation, it has developed into the most effective CQB weapon that can be used at multiple force levels. At each level of resistance and response, we have developed a variety of techniques to aid an officer in controlling suspects. One of the many benefits of the Talon is you can use it with all of the techniques you currently use. You do not have to learn any new techniques but may want to incorporate some of the techniques we teach.
Many times when you decide to make an arrest, the suspect may not be offering any physical resistance. In that case, you probably will not draw any of your weapons such as the Taser, chemical agent or baton. You will simply move into make the arrest. When you grab the suspect and tell him he�s under arrest, the suspect then becomes violent. You were probably taught to disengage, draw a weapon and use it to control the suspect. I ask, are you really going to let go. You will hold tighter and start striking the suspect in an attempt to gain control. This is where the Talon can be of great benefit. You can maintain your hold with one hand while deploying the Talon with the other. You�re your strikes and control techniques will be more effective.
When the Talon is deployed and concealed in the hand prior to grabbing the suspect, it makes the grab very effective. Many times this will stop the suspect from resisting. If he does resist, then the same strikes you would normally use will be more focused and cause intense pain. This pain will help in controlling the suspect. Also, the control holds you normally use can still be applied and may be enhanced with the Talon.
I have worked with the impact weapon and have found it very functional. I believe it is a tool that can greatly enhance Officer Safety. From the ground / CQB perspective it may not always be possible to effect release so I see a tool such as this being extremely functional to soften up potential targets and distract so that an Officer can get to a counter or a higher force option.

My jujitsu system uses the Kobo (yawara stick/kubaton) as part of our system. I simply substituted your tool for the Kobo and it performed beautifully. In fact, the side t-section added a really nice enhancement to what we already did. Great controlling and striking, and great pain compliance with the more focused tips. GOOD STUFF.

Really a great instructor and a needed product.
Ross was very informative and went out of his way to address all questions and tactical problems presented to him. I saw him addressing questions two days after his class during a break with someone who had not even taken the class( my training partner during Hockheim's class/ he had missed his flight and arrived late). Ross took time to explain several things to him and offered to send him several things free of charge. Ross demonstrated an attitude I wished all instructors shared.
This was another excellent course can't wait till I get the manual. Need more time. 2 hours not long enough Ross is an excellent professional instructor. I would like more training with him

Great Course,the talon is an excellent CQB Weapon, I cannot wait for the manual to arrive so I can teach my students need more time a 4 hour block of instruction so the students can practice more of the drills all in all a great course Ross was so helpful to the participants who took the class thank you Ross.
